You might be asking yourself: What is this and why should I care?

Many sites/blogs now provide feeds of their content which you can subscribe to. This simple technology allows you to use software called a ‘feed reader’ to read content from sites instead of visiting the site itself.

The main advantage of using the feed readers is that as soon as new content is available it will automatically be shown in your feed reader without any need to check that site for updates. Also you can follow various sites at the same time so you can centralize all of you contents in one reader.

You can also recieve updates via email, you can find how to do this in one simple step at the end of this page.

Lets imagine you wanted to stay up to date on business topics so you follow this blog and you also want to follow the latest international news so you could follow the BBC or whatever would be your preference.

Is this difficult so set up? If not what do I do?

This is really quite simple:
First, you’ll need a feed reader. You can install a feed reader on your PC so that you have access to it on your desktop, or if you prefer you can use an online feed reader.

The following three feed readers are popular:
FeedDemon for Windows
NetNewsWire for Mac OS X
Bloglines which is Web based
Google feed reader for the Green Fool blogPersonally I use Google’s navigator Chrome for feeds. It is not great nor designed for you to read all the latest information it just gives you the title of the lastest update and a link to the information. I use it to be notified of the latest contents and then I follow the link to the Green Fool for example to read the latest post.

So I have installed my feed reader or have decided that I am going to use Chrome, now what?
